Big Ben

Today we decided to see the all famous Big Ben Tower. The tower was built because the original tower and building had been burned down in a fire on Oct 22, 1834. It is the worlds largest 4 face chiming clock. Some people also would say it is the most reliable clock as well since it has only had 1 major break-down. The break down occurred on August 5, 1976. The speed regulator finally broke due to 100+ years of torsional fatigue. The clock was shut down for about 9 months.

After we went to see this awesome tower we decided to go to a lunch and walk around then head back over to the tower at night to see what it is like at night.

The London Eye

The first stop on my trip will be to London. London has many fun sights to see. London is Located on an island north of Europe. Londons population is 7,556,900. The currency here is the Pound Sterling. Its run by a Constitutional Monarchy. In my travels to London I decided I wanted to see the famous London Eye! The biggest ferris wheel in Europe. This bad boy was constructed In 1998 to 1999 using steel. This is an interesting ferris wheel because due to its size its held upwards by just one single A frame on one side of the wheel whereas other wheels are held up with 2 A frames, one on each side. When you board the ferris wheel you enter into a capsule. Like this one:

Later on we decided we wanted to go back the the wheel at night to see what it looked like then:
